Adidas Copa Mundial & World Cup Football Boots

The Adidas Copa Mundial has been around since 1979 and to this day remains one of the best selling football boots of all time. Released to coincide with the World Cup qualifying campaign for Spain 1982, the boots carry the "Approved by FIFA" mark on the sole, reflecting the new technlogy two colour bi-density polyeurethane construction of the sole unit.

With a K leather upper, the Adidas Copa Mundial has an extended foldover tongue and pre moulded heel counter. Extremely comfortable, and delivering excellent feel on the ball the boots are quick to break in but be warned - in common with most Adidas footwear, the Copa Mundial is built on a narrow last - so if you have wide feet these may not be the most suitable boots.

Adidas produce the Copa Mundial in 2 varieties; the hand stitched Copa Mundial is made at the Adidas factory in Germany and is the boot favoured by professionals, whereas the mass market version is made in Indonesia from lower quality materials. Outwardly identical, the country of origin is stated clearly on the label on the inside of the tongue. The glues used on the Indonesian Copa Mundial are prone to being broken down by the use of dubbin so it is recommended that only black boot polish is used on these to prevent the upper and sole unit from separating.

The Copa Mundial is a firm ground football boot - the Adidas World Cup football boot (worn by the Golden Boot winner in Germany 06 - Miroslav Klose, is the soft ground variant being made to the same design standards with the Adidas Samba being recognised as the classic astro & indoor / 5 a side trainer.

Several manufacturers produce their own football boots which can be described as being aesthetically very similar to the Copa Mundial, notably Asics and Puma.
